Are We Learning What We Need In School?

As I was reading Tony Wagner's "Rigor Redefined". Wagner talked about how he is not sure that we are being taught weverthing that we need to be so that we will be successful in the job world. He also is not sure that we are learning the seven skills most employers look for. As I was reading this article I was wondering why are questions so important? This question got to me because everything that he stated was revolved around questions. I think that schools are teaching us the best they can with everything they have at the moment. I also think that schools should be teaching us how to take all the information for say on the internet and for us to know wich is useful for us and wich is not useful. This is useful for me because it shows me what skills I need to have in order to get some of the jobs that I may want in my later years. This is also usfel to me because it shows me that I have to work had at these skill because who knows who else around the world and know this same information. This got me thinking that now a days we are competing against many more people around the world so we have to have the seven skills the best possible. This also got me thinking as he mentioned that not all kids in schools or class know the answers to the questions and when teachers call on a student who speaks quietly so no one can hear them and then dont repeat the answer then a lot ofthe kids well never know. Also he stated that students just go into class and follow the directions but have no idea why they need to do this or what is important.
